The Vavuniya Children’s Home was established on the 19th January 2003 as a Sai Children’s Home for boys and girls in the village of Koomankulam in Vavuniya District in the Northern Province. The Home has been built to accommodate about 50 to 60 children. This Home takes care of children who have been made destitute by the loss of their parents who had been victims of the 20 year conflict. These children had been living from handouts, they had no one to care for them, and had an uncertain and bleak future. The project seeks to take care of the physical, mental, and spiritual needs of the orphaned children. They have been found places in regular schools in the area, where there educational needs are taken care of. The Gurus of the Vavuniya Samithi spend time with them and introduce them to the concept of Educare, Bhajan and Seva.
